Teenage boy charged in connection with a string of sexual assaults in Rugby

A 16-year-old boy has been charged as part of an investigation into a number of sexual assaults in Rugby in recent weeks.

Between Sunday September 22 and Wednesday October 7 police received eight reports of women being approached by a man who has then inappropriately touched them over their clothing.

The incidents took place on Bennett Street, Bridget Street, West leys, James Street, Dale Street, Jubilee Street and Chapel Street Rugby.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on the evening of Wednesday October 7 on suspicion of sexual assault in connection to the incidents and has been charged with two counts of sexual assault on a female.

He has been detained in custody and due to be seen at Leamington Magistrates Court today (Friday October 9).

Investigating officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed these incidents or may have been victims of similar incidents around that time and ask that anyone with information calls Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident 268 of Wednesday 7 October.
