The fight against scrap metal thefts in and around Rugby continues

THE Rugby Rural South Safer Neighbourhood police team has been named as the seventh highest performing team within the county, according to a new survey.

The survey was carried out by Warwickshire Police which looked into the number of scrap metal thefts reported in the county for the financial year from 2011 to 2012.

The Rugby Rural South Safer Neighbourhood team was listed as the 7th highest performing team within the county, with six incidents of scrap metal theft having been reported on the Knightlow and Leam Valley wards.

For the previous financial year of 2010 to 2011, there had been 12 reported incidents of scrap metal theft, indicating a 50 per cent reduction.
