WORK is continuing during the final stages of the replacement of the Catthorpe Viaduct on the M1 and M6 near Catthorpe.

The Highways Agency announced this week that there will be a number of hardshoulder closures for motorists to be aware of as contractors work to finish the viaduct across the motorway.

It said that on Thursday and Friday this week (May 24 and 25) there will be hardshoulder closures on the M1 northbound from the M6 northbound exit slip road to the junction 19 entry slip road.

On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week (May 23, 24 and 25) there will be hardshoulder closures on the M6 southbound from the A14 exit slip road to Catthorpe Viaduct.

All closures will be in place from 7am to 6pm.

Motorists are also being reminded that there are 50mph speed restrictions around the clock due to reduced alignment on the M6 to M1 link and is not associated with any ongoing roadworks.

Work has been ongoing at the viaduct since July last year. It is due to be complete by the end of this month.
