YOU can rely on these dogs to behave themselves - their owners have been named Britain’s best trainers.

Ashlawn Dog Training Club was chosen as the winner of the Registered Dog Training Club category of the Kennel Club’s Good Citizen Dog Training Scheme Awards, which took place in London recently.

The Ashlawn club held ‘Good Citizen’ dog training scheme testing sessions last year.

These resulted in 43 puppy foundation awards, 16 bronze, six silver and three gold awards during 2010.

Club president Doris Winmill said: “We are very pleased, especially because we are only a small club.

“We feel very honoured.”

The club has also had excellent success rates with members qualifying to compete at Crufts.

The awards recognise the efforts of organisations across the country which have invested their time and energy into helping to train dogs and educating their owners about the importance of responsible dog ownership.

The judges were also impressed by the club’s support of local charities, including a local dog rescue organisation and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.
