Bobby Davro will be lighting up the stage as the star turn at the 2012 Rugby Business Awards.

The black-tie event, organised by the Advertiser along with Cemex, is the biggest day in Rugby’s business calendar and celebrates the hard work, creativity and success of local firms.

Held on Friday June 1 at Dunchurch Park Hotel, the awards are a chance to have a great night out, get your business on the map, boost morale and raise your media profile.

Bobby will be joined by MC Ian Richards, one of the UK’s most in-demand comics and after-dinner speakers.

Since the mid-1980s Bobby Davro has been known as one of Britain’s most versatile and talented entertainers. The list of shows he’s fronted includes Bobby Davro on the Box, Bobby’s Sketch Pad, TV Weekly and Run the Risk. He’s also been on Eastenders, recorded a number one hit single with comedian Peter Kay and has competed in Dancing on Ice.

Ginny Hunter, advertising manager at the Advertiser, said: “We’re delighted Bobby Davro will be joining us this year. He’s one of Britain’s best entertainers and we’re sure he’ll go down a storm along with Ian Richards.”

Awards up for grabs this year include star prize Business of the Year along with Town Centre Outlet of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Innovator of the Year, Employee of the Year, Team of the Year, the Customer Care Award, the Best Marketing or Promotional Campaign award and Green Company of the Year.

Helen Walton, owns Perfection Beauty, 2011 Business of the Year. She urges firms to take part.

“We had a great evening last year – there was some brilliant entertainment and Ian Richards was also great fun. It was also fantastic to be chosen as overall winner,” she said.

“I’d say to local firms it’s well worth ordering an information pack.

“Some people may think entering is too time consuming or that they may not stand a chance, but if you’re willing to devote a small amount of time to it then it’s well worth it.”

Businesses are invited to sponsor categories as well as entering the awards.

All sponsors will feature in the Advertiser’s weekly coverage in the build-up to the event.

Tickets cost £40 plus VAT and include a three-course meal. To discuss sponsorship opportunitiers, buy tickets or request an information pack, call Ginny Hunter on (01788) 539990 or email ginny.hunter@rugby advertiser.co.uk.
