Uncertain times for The Works in the Clock Towers Shopping Centre

The future of a well-known shop in the Clock Towers Shopping Centre in Rugby is in doubt.

The Works, which sells books, art and craft supplies and games, has ‘operated a break clause’ in its lease within the town shopping centre - meaning it could close the store.

However bosses at the Clock Towers have said that the store is continuing to trade at the moment while negotiations are ongoing.

Tony Spencer, manager of the shopping centre, said: “They have operated a break clause which means they can operate on a short term lease.

“As far as we are aware at the moment it is not closing. We are talking with them and negotiating with them to stay in the centre and continue trading on a short term basis.

“This is the impact we will now start seeing because of things going on out of town. This will start happening all around town.”
