A BEAR, a giant beer bottle, a red rhino, a box of chocolates and our star runner in a wig were among the participants of this year’s fancy dress pancake race.
The sunshine brought out large crowds of spectators to the annual pancake race outside the Three Horseshoes Hotel in Sheep Street at midday today (Tuesday).
The Rugby Advertiser’s deputy editor Peter Ormerod took part in the race after putting on his wig, feather boa and his fastest running shoes.
He joined other runners in fancy dress in the first heat of the race as they ran down Sheep Street, tossing pancakes as they went.
Peter was first past the finish line but was unable to enter the final because it’s traditionally a ladies only event.
The overall winner was Claire Waleczek.
Money raised will go towards the Rugby Crossroads Care, Rugby Guideposts and Lions’ charities.
