Rugby’s new £12m Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre officially opened at weekend, giving Rugbeians a chance to see inside for the first time.
Open days on Saturday and Sunday offered people the chance to sample the pool and gym facilities for just £1 and also enjoy taster sessions for activities like badminton, soft tennis and dance on the centre’s arcade-style dance mats.
Helen Thompson, who went along to the open day, said: “I thought they did really well considering it was their first weekend open and the place was full. I thoroughly enjoyed our time there and the facilities are great.
“There are also lots of familiar staff from the old Ken Marriott and who are happy to go that extra mile to show you around.”
Charlotte Deaves from Bilton added that the facilities looked “fantastic”.
Charitable social enterprise GLL has been chosen to run the new centre on a not-for-profit basis, and to reinvest profits back into services.
