Violent assault in club

AN APPEAL has been issued after a man was violently assaulted in Rugby’s Fever nightclub this morning.

Police have said the 21-year-old was attacked on the club’s first floor near the double doors. He suffered several skull fractures as a result of the ordeal, which happened just before 12.30am. The victim was treated at St Cross Hospital and transferred to University Hospital where he was detained and is awaiting further treatment to his head.

A twenty year old man from Rugby was arrested on suspicion of assault at approximately 6.30am and is currently in custody at Rugby.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the victim as he left the night club and walked towards ASDA at Corporation Street, from where he was taken to hospital, is asked to call police investigator Don Reeves-French on 01926 415000, extension 3742.
