Sheyi Martins brings her soulful singer-songwriter talents to Lawrence Sheriff School in Rugby on Saturday April 27.
First spotted by top vocal coaches David and Carrie Grant, (whose client list includes Take That, Lemar and Charlotte Church), Sheyi Martins’ voice has that instant recognition factor. Evocative self-penned tunes such as Hurting show Sheyi’s undoubted ability to capture emotions, and her eagerly awaited performance in Rugby is also likely to include a few cover treats. Promoter Chris French said: “Sheyi has been compared to the great Anita Baker, but she has her own distinctive style, which I’m sure will see her grace much bigger stages in the not too distant future, so catch her while you can at a small intimate venue, right here in Rugby”.
Tickets (£10) are on sale at rugbyroots.com – or from The Visitor Centre at Rugby Art Gallery, Museum and Library, or Sounds in Church Street. Doors open at 7.15pm.
