Times may be hard on the high street - but many shops in Rugby continue to thrive.

And this year’s Rugby Business Excellence Awards will honour the best the town centre has to offer – with you getting a say about who wins. It’s one of 12 categories for which awards will be given at a glamorous ceremony at Dunchurch Park Hotel on Friday June 7.

You can nominate any shop, restaurant, bar or takeaway in the town centre by visiting www2.rugbyreviewtoday.co.uk/advertiserRBEA2013 or by searching for The Rugby Advertiser on Facebook and leaving a comment. Entry forms are also available from town centre outlets, and you can post your vote, including your contact details, to Ginny Hunter, Rugby Advertiser, 2 Albert Street, Rugby CV21 2RS. Voting closes on Friday May 3.

The five most nominated will be judged by mystery shoppers on criteria such as store layout, customer service and the availability and quality of products.

The category is sponsored by the Clock Towers shopping centre and town centre management company Rugby First. Aftab Gaffar, Rugby First’s managing director, said: “We are delighted to be involved with the awards again. Rugby town centre has some fantastic retailers, many of them independents, offering excellent customer service, great quality products and competitive pricing. Despite the difficult economic climate, new businesses continue to open within the centre, attracted by the clean, safe and welcoming environment it provides.”

Aftab added: “We are extremely proud of our town centre retailers, many who have already been recognised for their success nationally. This award provides a further opportunity to celebrate their achievements and to thank every one for their continued support, commitment and passion in making the town centre such a special place to live, work, shop and visit.”

Tickets are available for the ceremony for just £40 plus VAT. Please reserve your places soon as space is limited this year. For an information pack, contact Ginny Hunter at the Advertiser on (01788) 539999.
