WHAT IS IT? Walking papers (featuring Duff McKagan)
WHERE AND WHEN IS IT? Vault, Tuesday November 6
WHAT DO THEY SAY ABOUT IT?
Guns N’ Roses legend Duff McKagan’s band Walking Papers come to Rugby on Tuesday November 6.
Walking Papers would be a great band even if their line-up didn’t include one of the biggest names in rock ‘n’ roll - but having him on board certainly grabs people’s attention.
The supergroup are from Seattle and consist of several rock‘n’roll pros who over the years have collaborated with the likes of Queens of the Stone Age and Pearl Jam.
When frontman Jeff Angell and drummer Barrett Martin decided to form a new band, they didn’t have to look very far for support. They got in touch with some old friends (some very famous old friends) and the project was up and running.
Martin is the former drummer of The Screaming Trees and Angell is the singer for The Missionary Position - both bands are established heavyweights on the otherside of the Atlantic.
For their record, Walking Papers, which is out now, the duo enlisted the of Duff McKagan — and when it came time to record guitar solos for their debut album, they reached out to Pearl Jam‘s Mike McCready, who had previously worked with Martin in Mad Season.
They didn’t stop there, either - the new record also features brass work from an established gang of pros. These include trumpeter Dave Carter, trombonist Ed Ulman, and sax player Dan Spalding. Check them out on Youtube and you will understand why no one will leave Vault on November 6 dissatisfied.
