The elegant Regency-stripes of Tim Illston’s delicatessen shop have fallen foul of district planners who have rejected his retrospective planning application to keep the paint scheme within the conservation area of Old Square, Warwick.

Mr Illston, who applied for consent after realising he needed to ask permission for the colour scheme, says he will appeal the decision.

He said: “I know planners did allow a house in St Nicholas Church Street to be painted pink, so why can’t I have green?”
