THE annual competition to find the Warwickshire Beer of the Year is now underway.

The barrels have been rolled out, set up and are now in full flow as the Annual Warwickshire Beer of the Year contest.

The competition is being held at the Merchants Inn in Little Church Street, Rugby and is a public vote.

Steve Heighton from CAMRA who are awarding the winner with a trophy said: “This is major competition in the beer world and the 12 breweries who are all from the county will be putting their best beer forward to try to win the public vote. There is only a barrel from each of the breweries and we are expecting drinkers from across the county to travel in to sample the best beers locally.”

Scott Whyment, manager at the Merchants, added: “We are running a separate bar with cooling and racking to ensure the beers are in tip top condition. With so many great brewers in Warwickshire the competition will be very fierce.”

The breweries competing are:

Church End

Purity

Tunnell

Griffiin

Wood Farm

North Cotswold

Warwickshire

The Pie Factory

Slaughterhose

Atomic

Merry Miner
