A GROUP of friends have been having fun and raising money for Cancer Research.

Helen James, Tracy Brown, Carol Franklin, Carol Seager and Helen White have been busy raising hundreds of pounds for Cancer Research UK over the last few months.

Not only did the women take part in the 5km Rugby Race for Life in July, they also held a Pig, Wig, Swig and Jig party to boost funds for the charity.

The event, held in Bourton Village Hall, was attended by 120 people who all turned up wearing an array of weird and wonderful coloured wigs.

There was a hog roast, disco, bar, raffle and auction. Through sponsorship and the fundraising event, a total of £2,600 was raised for Cancer Research UK.

Carol Seager, from Dunchurch, who last week finished chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment for cancer, said the charity does a great job in discovering new treatments for the disease.
