The lucky winners will board The Cathedrals Express at Rugby Station at 08:25 and will enjoy a champagne breakfast in the elegant surroundings of the 1960’s carriages.
The train will be diesel hauled to Lancashire, before steam locomotive 46115 Scots Guardsman makes the challenging climb over Shap and on to the historic city of Carlisle.
When in Carlisle, passengers will have at least two hours to explore this fascinating city, which dates back to Roman times. Particular highlights include the magnificent Castle founded in 1092 and nearby Citadel built by Henry VIII as well as the beautiful Cathedral with its famous 14th-century stained glass window. There will also be time to visit the award winning Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery.
