A woman in her 60s was grabbed from behind by a woman who attempted to steal her handbag in Rugby.

Warwickshire Police is appealing for witnesses to the attempted robbery that took place in Regent Street at around 1pm on Thursday.

A woman, who is in her 60s, was walking along Regent Street towards Regent Place on the left hand side of the pavement when she was attacked from behind.

She was outside Parriss Jewellers when someone grabbed hold of her handbag.

The woman kept hold of her handbag which caused her to twist and fall between two parked cars in the road.

The woman was wearing a blue three quarter length coat with the hood up. She did not sustain any injuries requiring hospital treatment although the attack has left her feeling shaken and upset.

The offender ran off in an unknown direction and is described as a white woman with long brown hair, of slim build and aged between 20 and 30.

She was wearing a beige hooded coat, pink skirt and blue leggings.
