Warwickshire athletes win Inter county fixture
The NIA in Birmingham was the venue for the annual inter County Schools Indoor athletic meeting between West Mids, Staffordshire and Warwickshire. Numerically, Warwickshire is one of the smallest schools areas but in these specialised events the coun
ty compares well against its bigger neighbours.
The Junior Girls suffered from some late withdrawals but still put up a spirited performance covering all the events with several Personal bests and finishing second to WM.
From Ashlawn in Rugby; first off was Kirsty Dickenson winning the 60m hurdles in 10.9s a PB. She also covered the High jump 1.35m and a relay leg. Schoolmate Megan Sly gained 3rd in the 60m 8.7s PB and also ran the relay

The Inter girls were left incomplete despite several athletes volunteering to cover extra events on the night, but still finished 2nd to Staffs.
Rugby High School team mates covered the 60mHurdles; Yasmin Webb equalled her PB with 9.5s 3rd A-race while Hannah Scales opened with 10.0s 2nd B. Yasmin also ran 8.5s for 2nd in the B-60m and ran the relay. Hannah covered the 300mB in 45.8s, the HJ-B in 1.45m collecting 1st place in both, she also ran a relay leg.
The Junior Boys team although small in number were extremely competitive both with the other teams and each other, finishing first.
Ashlawn athlete Luke Townsend ran a PB to win the 60mH in 9.7s plus 8.1s when guesting in the 60m flat. Compatriot Callum Wardle also ran PBs in the 200mA 24.6 _2nd and the fastest 60m_7.8s, as a guest in the 60m.
Princethorpe's Patrick Mills ran 8.2s PB, for the 60m_2nd.

Last minute withdrawals in the Inter Boys team were rapidly corrected thanks to the enthusiasm of the attending athletes often attempting new events.
James Wright of Lawrence Sheriff started with a 8.5s PB in the 60mH was 2nd followed by another PB and win in the 60mB-7.5s and as last minute sub in the relay took the team into a winning lead.
Star of the jumpers was Charles Ogankeyede (Rugby School) who amazed even himself with a PB clearance of 1.95m to win the High jump, his first competition since September, then 2nd in the Triple J –A 11.94m.
They relay team won a thrilling final event over West Mids, tying the Inter boys' score with West Mids and claiming the overall match victory by 2pts
