Rugby Town's long trip to Truro ended in a 4-1 defeat on Saturday.
Smith put Rugby ahead in the 18th minute, but the home team led 2-1 at half time and went on to add two second-half goals.
Rugby Town travel to Cambridge City on Tuesday evening (16th) but any chance of avoiding relegation is looking extremely remote.
