Barby won by 88 runs

Barby bounced back to winning ways with an 88-run victory over Knowle Village.

After winning the toss, Barby captain Joel Gleghorn elected to bat first and after James Wynn Evans 39, David Watson 21, and Tom Gleghorn 19 had all made starts and got out, Barby found themselves 114-6 after 25 overs.

A partnership was needed to get the innings back on track. This was provided by the two Robs, Edom and Field. The unbroken 114-run partnership being dominated by Edom, who ended on 99 not out with Field giving great support on his return to the 1st team, making 38 not out as Barby made 228-6 off 50 overs.

In reply, Knowle struggled from the start as Tom Middleton returned figures of 3-35 and with Danny Scott claiming 4-48, only Ibrahim Ahmed with 55 and Muhammed Elsham 29 showed any resistance, as Knowle were bowled out for 140 in 37.4 overs to give Barby 24 points and a win by 88 runs.

Barby travelled to bottom dwellers Knowle Village for a key match up, short of skipper Rob Field.

Led by Adam Shay, the decision to bat first was met with surprise from the Knowle skipper and the odd uneven bounce early cast some doubt through the Barby batting ranks.

Despite a solid start, Chris Bramley and Joe Hardbattle fell cheaply. Brimming with confidence the Knowle bowlers were brought down to earth with a thud when in-form batsmen Matt James plundered a six into the clubhouse first ball.

Some 101 runs later and a volley of sixes and fours the Knowle fielders had their heads down, only to see the usually measured Dom Craven knock up his first 50.

Supported by Adam Shay (39) Dom Craven went on to strike 91 well deserved runs before falling to a top edge catch. A quick fire 20 from 13-year-old Alex Watson and the 50 overs were complete with a total of 306 posted. After 10 overs of consistently straight swing bowling from Gam Gurang, Knowle were playing for the draw.

Other than 48 from opener Chris White there was little to report from the Knowle batting performance.

A strong bowling perfomance from Shay 3-41 and two sharp run-outs meant that Barby finished with a winning draw and 17 points.

Spencer (30pts) beat Barby (0pts) by 9 wickets.

An all too familiar batting capitulation saw Barby 3rds suffer the ignominy of returning home from an away fixture without taking so much as one bonus point for their efforts for the second time this season.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, wickets fell with alarming regularity as batsmen found all manner of soft ways to get themselves out.

scraped doubled figures, and the innings was wrapped up inside 25 overs.  Mark Tranter was the pick of the bowlers with 5-18.

Spencer knocked off the paltry target in steady rather than spectacular style, with the only wicket falling to Graeme Lamb, who sent down eight tidy overs (1-20).

Alan York with 33 not out saw the hosts home not long after 4pm.
