Last Sunday Rugby Golf Club held its annual golf day in memory of Pete Reynolds who was a popular club member.
Pete’s father Richard is a past club Captain and his mother Jane a past club Stewardess.
The event was well supported with over 80 members taking part in a early morning shotgun start, competing in three competitions which were held on the day.
The Champion of Champions Medal Competition involved the 21 major competition winners from last season.
This was won by John Beards scoring a net 65, and runner up Paul Godding with a net 68.
There was also a stableford competition involving over 60 members, which was won by Gareth Williams with 42 points, runner up Steve Ainley scored 37 points.
The Ladies section also held a Stableford competition, which was won by Ladies Captain Caroline Brown with 28 points, on count back from runner up Abi Mortimer-Lane.
The fine spring weather added to the success of the day which was attended by Pete’s family, who, with raffle prizes sponsored by Cemex, raised over £ 500 for chosen causes on the day.
Dressed in pink!
Last Wednesday, despite the cold weather, 27 ladies at Rugby Golf Club, dressed in pink for the annual Macmillan Cancer Relief competition. The competition winner is presented with a trophy later in the year in addition to a keepsake spoon, donated by Macmillan Cancer Relief. Donations from the Ladies amounted to £74.10.
Winner: Anne Hawkins (33 pts) Runner –up: Sue Jones (32pts) on count back.
