Rugby Town JFC has received a £5,000 from the Football Foundation towards developing new football teams.
The grant will enable them to create an additional eight teams, including two girls’ teams, over three years.
Secretary Brian Crinigan said: “We are delighted to have been awarded a Grow the Game Grant from the Football Foundation. This scheme means that we can recruit and train new coaches, form new football teams and support them over a three year period with facility hire and equipment.”
Chad Ehlertsen, Birmingham FA County Development Manager, said: “This is excellent news for the club. This funding will provide positive investment into the growth and development of one of our flagship Charter Standard Community Clubs.”
Rugby MP Mark Pawsey added: “I visited the Rugby Town JFC recently and was greatly impressed with the facilities on offer.
“It is an excellent club providing a fantastic service for the people of Rugby. I know that this grant will be used to bring more people to the club who will be able to enjoy all that it has to offer.”
Funded by the Premier League, The FA, and the Government via Sport England, the Football Foundation is the nation’s largest sports charity.
n Rugby Town are now recruiting players for their new Under 21 side. The team will be competing in the Midland Combination U21 League with games being played on Saturday Mornings at Butlin road. The league will start in September.
The club will be holding trials for new players with the squad being formed by the middle of August.
