A lasting Legacy for town sports clubs

THE new indoor facility for three Rugby sports clubs has been named.

The Rugby Legacy Centre will be the new base for Rugby Town Juniors and Girls Football Club, Rugby Gymnastics Club and Rugby Town Squash Club.

The iconic indoor facility at Rugby Town’s Kilsby Lane will cost around £3.5 million and, as previously reported in the
Advertiser, has already been granted outline planning permission from Rugby Borough Council.

Jason Morris the Legacy Centre project chairman said: “We have thought long and hard about the name and we feel this name is appropriate for the year 2012.

“We have had some good feedback from sporting bodies and they think it is a great name.

“We also believe that this is a great opportunity for the three sports to continue and be developed further in the town of Rugby.

“We are all delighted at the progress we are making and the help and support of the governing bodies to bring the project to fruition.

“We will keep all our people updated with project news via the clubs’ website.”

The three clubs involved in the joint venture have so far been very proactive in securing funding for the building.

They already have more than £600,000 in matched funding with another £1 million promised via a commercial company.
