Under 9s celebrate coach’s 40th with a win

AW Engraving Coventry Alliance League Premier Division Peugeot FC 2 Brinklow 3: An 89th minute penalty sealed a thrilling win for Brinklow at league leaders Peugeot.

Brinklow fell behind after 11 minutes when Ryan O’Toole rose above the visitors defence to nod home. Blake Kassar was unlucky not to level the scores on 44 minutes after his shot rattled the crossbar. A minute after the break Brinklow equalised after a neat passing move was finished when Lloyd Pulford set up Connor Tallett to slot home.

On 75 minutes Macca Richards applied a glancing header to Nathan Stoute’s free kick to give Brinklow the lead. Peugeot looked to have rescued a point when Dave Corden headed an equaliser on 85 minutes. With only a minute remaining Jordan Henderson was upended in the penalty area leaving Nic Whittam to convert the penalty and grab all three points. .

Division 2: Brinklow Reserves 1 Stockingford AAA 5: Brinklow were without key players as they hosted Stockingford. Man of the match, Michael Thomas was Brinklow’s goal scorer.

U9s: The fourth league game saw the U9s away to Stratford Town. After a slow start the boys got into their stride, passing and moving at speed, which is improving with every game.

Brinklow limited the opposition’s chances and broke down their attacks early. With some great combination play Brinklow found themselves going into half time with a slender lead thanks to two well taken goals by Riley Bloxham and Toby Edwards.

The second half message was clear to score again and take control of the game. That they managed to do from a coolly taken penalty from Cameron James. The game ended an own goal adding to Brinklow’s tally. A fantastic overall team performance. What better way to celebrate the coach’s 40th birthday with a deserved victory.

Man of the match: Mason King and Noah Ward.

U10s: Brinklow faced tough – tackling opponents when they hosted Ernesford Grange. A below-par first-half performance was overturned after the break and Brinklow came back into the game with goals from Ethan Payne and Luke O’Callaghan (2).

Man of the match went to Jack Cooke for putting in a great work rate.

U12s Cup: Bedworth United Junior Lions 7 Brinklow 1: Brinklow received a mauling at Bedworth. A consolation goal was scored by Arjun Sembi.

U18s: Brinklow Juniors U17 0 Balsall and Berkswell Hornets U18 0: Both teams played out a stalemate in a game that was mainly a battle between the two midfields.
