Two Rugby Town sides meet in opening league game

Rugby Town FC hosted Rugby Town Juniors FC (Sponsored By SIS) at Butlin Road in the opening game of the 2016-17 season in the Midland Youth Floodlit league.

The opening goal came from a well-worked setpiece when Camron Barratt chipped the ball into the near post to Clark, who flicked the ball onto Lockley to head home into the net past Bodycote in the Rugby Town FC goal.

Rugby Town equalised after 55 minutes after a mix-up in the defence. Then a lovely pass from Barnwell into Barratt put Gamble in, who squared it to Lockley to fire Juniors back into the lead.

Lockley completed his hat- trick for 3-1 with another outstanding move down the right hand side involving Gamble and Barratt again.

RTJFC then found their rhythm creating a numerous of chances but couldn’t put the ball past the RTFC goalkeeper Bodycott who made a number of saves to deny Sawyer, Barratt and Lockley.

Remae then came off the bench and was a constant threat. His shot again saved but Brian Badu ran 60 yards to head home in the 78th minute to wrap the game up 4-1 for RTJFC and guide them to three points on the opening night of the season.
