Celebrations for VS Rugby’s 1983 Wembley success

Valley players, supporters and officials are to hold their annual reunion to celebrate their 1983 Wembley success, this Saturday and Sunday, at The William Webb Ellis pub Warwick Street, Rugby.

Pub landlord, the VS Rugby No. 9, Derek Owen and wife Karen are hosting the event from 3pm onwards on Saturday. There will be a hot buffet served (vegetarian option available) at £5 per person payable on the day and a band, All the Kings Horses, are booked from 9pm until late.

For those carrying the festivities into Sunday, lunch will be available in the William Webb Ellis and entertainment by Christy Pepper will be from 5pm to 8pm.

VS Rugby beat Halesowen Town 1-0 on April 30, 1983 with the only goal scored by Ian Crawley, who has since passed away with Motor Neurone Disease.
