JK Timber - Rugby & District Sunday Football League

Only two games survived in Division 1. The Bell comfortably beat London Calling 4-1 and AFC Casey’s beat Yelvertoft 3-2 in a very close game. Eagles v Barley Mow was not played.

It was derby day in Division 2 as Hillmorton met Hillmorton Red Lion. And it was Hillmorton who struck first, taking the lead as early as the fifth minute.

The game ebbed and flowed from end to end and both teams created some good scoring opportunities. In the 40th minute the Red Lion struck first with a superb header and then a close range strike, both goals coming within the space of two minutes to give them the lead at the break.

They increased their lead to 3-1 with an early second-half goal and looked in control.

Hillmorton pushed hard and pulled goals back in the 55th and 70th minutes to draw level at 3-3.

Two minutes later slack defending allowed the Red Lion to make it 4-3 and then they wound the game up with a goal in the 80th minute to win the game 5-3. Goalscorers for Lion were Mark Bird, Stuart McQuillian, Joe North and Adam Timms 2. In reply were Adam Hartwell, Ryan Buckley and Adam Thomas.

Earlier in the season Rugby Rockets were hammered 8-1 by Casey’s Reserves but on Sunday the tables were turned. Casey’s took the lead within the first two minutes but in the 37th Rockets drew level. A minute later Casey’s regained the lead, only to see Rockets equalise on the stroke of half-time.

In the second half Rockets went 3-2 up before Casey’s went down to ten men after two red cards. Rockets then won a penalty which was converted and they clinched the game 4-2. Goalscorers for Rockets were Steven Chew, Paddy Walle, Ruairi Brien and Joe Brien. In reply were Tony Burrett and Daniel Clarke.

The Prince of Wales beat The Webb 3-2. Craig Burrin, Richard Teale and Luke Mulpoon scoring for Prince. Athletico beat CRC Reserves 5-1. Wez Klopper hit a brace, Mark Lindsey, David Maggs and Jimmy Fullard added singles. The Royal Oak gave the Avon Mill a 7-1 thumping. Alan Bloomfield bagged a hat-trick.

Deane Paine got a brace. Shane Hunt and Blayn Turner added singles. Dunchurh v Bull postponed.

Fixtures for Sunday 12th: CRC V Lawford, Bell v Casey’s, London Calling v Barley Mow, Yelvertoft v Woodlands.

Avon Mill v Red Lion, Prince of Wales v Royal Oak, Dunchurch v Webb, Casey’s Reserves v Bull, CRC Reserves v Rockets, Athletico Belbao v Hillmorton.

Casey’s Reserves have pulled out of the Cup competition and the result against London Calling has been removed. It does alter their position in group 1. The next round of the Cup gets underway on the 19th so, here, are the groups as they stand.
