Revel champions over Cresent in final

Four local primary schools; The Revel, Crescent, Milverton House and Our Lady’s took part in Princethorpe College’s 13th Football Festival for Under 11s.

Princethorpe College Sixth formers Jordan Rigby and Matthew Duigan refereed the two pitches where teams played games of nine minutes each way. Good side-line support gave players shouts of encouragement from the second the whistle blew.

But it was The Revel school who claimed the turf from the start. These young boys knitted together beautifully to out-smart the opposition in a first game 8-0 win against Our Lady’s. The Crescent School also brought passion and drama to the pitch beating Our Lady’s 6-0 and drawing against Milverton House. In the deciding match between Revel and Crescent it was a late scoring goal in the second half that clinched the win for The Revel overall. A spontaneous cheer from the lads signalled their well-earned victory and sparkling goal tally of 13..

Princethorpe College Director of Sport Neil McCollin brought the tournament to a close with a speech of thanks to all the visiting teams. The results were declared in the following order: The Revel 1st, Crescent 2nd (on goal difference), Milverton House 3rd and Our Lady’s 4th. Medals were awarded along with refreshments and souvenirs for all participants.
