Rugby Town Boys U14 success at Butlins Minehead Football Festival

Town Boys, sponsored by PAB Coventry, returned from their May Bank Holiday weekend as runners-up in a competitive 11-a-side tournament. On the Saturday Town drew their first game against Withymoor 4-4 when they conceded a last gasp equaliser after twice having a two-goal cushion.

The second game saw them beat Leominster 2–0 and the final Saturday game was a 0–3 defeat against eventual winners Thamesmead Town.

On the Sunday Town raised their game further and a 4–1 win over Dosthill Colts was eclipsed with a 5-1 victory over Cwrt Rawlin.

Town were now reliant on other results to determine their position but Thamesmead secured the title by a point as they drew their final game.

Town played some of their best football of the season with all 13 players involved fulfilling expectations.

Dylan, Callum and Danny A all scored four goals with Ross, Keiron and Sam M all getting singles.

A great weekend was had by all parents and players culminating at the awards ceremony where they were presented with runners-up trophies by Ex-Arsenal, Celtic, West Ham and Wales legend John Hartson.

A big thank you from all involved to Karen for organising the weekend and to the players whose behaviour both on and off the pitch was a great advert for football in Rugby.
