Last weekend’s summary:

The cup always throws up a shock or two and last weekend it did just that. League leaders the Royal Oak took on Division 2 Griffin.

Last season in the same cup the Oak beat them 15-0 but this time was very different.

The Griffin had a chance to go ahead twice within the first five minutes, but both chances were put wide. It was the Oak who took the lead in the 11th minute when Nick Matthews headed home from a corner. Nine minutes later the Griffin drew level when Jack Curtis found the net.

The Oak restarted the game and the ball was passed to Josh Goodwin, who hammered it into the roof of the net from 30 yards out, to put his side back in front and they held a slender half time lead.

Early second half goals from Greg Linton and James Henry put the Oak 4-1 up. The Griffin looked down and out but the Oak underestimated this young battling side.

Curtis hit his second of the day to make it 4-2 and soon after it was 4-3 when Kane Maunder connected with a cross and his close-range effort found the net.

With just minutes left the Oak failed to clear their lines and Matty Lea levelled from close range to earn the Griffin a well-deserved point.

CRC took a first half 2-0 lead against the Prince of Wales, both from the penalty spot and converted by Josh Banton.

In the second half CRC ruled the game as Banton completed his hat-trick. Dan Nelson hit a brace and Ben Cox and Kelvin Pugh added to make it 7 -0 at the finish.

Craig Burrin gave Athletico Belbao an early lead against the Barley Mow, but the Barley fought back with goals from Lee Golding 2, Oleg Stroi 2, Anton Demarino 2, Daniel Scott, Craig McCauley Troy Dixon and Liam Bailey to win this one 10-1.

Lawford beat Braunston 9-1 and Quigley’s won 5-2 against Avon Mill.

Jamie Fox, Craig Hartfield, Chris Ward and Chris Oldham got the goals for The Webb as they beat CRC Reserves 4-2. Matthew Shipman and Callum Howling replied for CRC Res. Clifton Bulls beat The Hollybush 3-0.

Group 2 of the competition is complete and the others will be decided on March 13.
