Rugby Town crowned champions

Rugby Town JFC Youth have been crowned Eastern Division champions of the Midland Youth Floodlit League. The team, in partnership with the Strachan Football Foundation, claimed the title after a 2-0 win at Bedworth Utd last Wednesday.

The season in general has proved to be a very successful for the boys as they reached the semi-final of the League Cup losing out to a very good Oadby Town side and lost out again in the Birmingham County FA Youth Cup final at Hednesford, 1-0 to Lye Town.

However, the team are looking forward to playing in the Premier Division next season and some new challenges ahead. The players are still very young and this team has another year together.

Dan Elliott Manager of the team and Director of the Foundation said: “This group of talented players have only been together 12 months and have exceeded our expectations for this season.

“This group will get stronger and we will be looking to challenge for all the honours next season.”
