Tangos grow from three players to 71 in a year

Rugby Town Tangos have grown from just three players to 71 in a year. Boys and girls aged four to six have been encouraged to join thanks to publicity by sponsor McDonalds. Franchisee Glyn Pashley provides free kit and equipment and will buy an extra 40 strips for next season.

The club has also been able to use the sponsorship to put three of their coaches on courses for the Level one FA coaching badges.

Glyn said: “It’s a great local club, and I’m delighted at the success they’ve had recruiting players over the summer. Supporting children to be physically active is obviously important, and with this in mind I hope the club continues to thrive.”

Manager David Roche founder of the Tangos and the project development said: “The kids love their new kit and support that the sponsorship deal gives them. We would like to thank the McDonalds community team who have seen the potential in the project and have invested their time and money into it.”
