Valley in fifth spot with six games to go

Rugby Town and Barton Rovers could only manage a 0-0 draw on Saturday, leaving the battle for play-off places even more intense.

Watched by a bumper 284 crowd, this was Valley’s first stale-mate of the campaign.

It leaves them in fifth - the last play-off place - on 66 points from 36 games. Barton are sixth on 63 with a game in hand.

Kettering will almost certainly take the top spot, being 14 points clear on 84 from 36 games. Aylesbury in second have 70 points from 35 games, with Bedworth United third with 69 from 36. Royston are fourth with 68 from 36 making the final half a dozen games an exciting prospect.

Among their remaining Evostik Southern League Central Division One fixtures Rugby play Kettering on Easter Monday, April 6 and Royston Town in their last game on April 25.
