Valley beaten 2-0 by Northwich Victoria

After all the comings and goings in the last couple of weeks, Rugby’s new-look side took a while to gel against Northwich Victoria at Butlin Road on Saturday, who went ahead in the 15th minute.

With the chance of a second-half equaliser, Rugby began to settle and fought hard, but their ninth-placed visitors made sure of the three-points with another goal in the 89th minute.

With Gary Moran now installed as manager and former boss Martin Sockett as head coach, Valley are looking to climb off the bottom of the NPL South table, where they have just four points from a win and a draw.

But this weekend they have a break from league action when they travel to Bedworth United in the FA Trophy preliminary round.
