Volunteer of the Month award for August goes to groundsman

Rugby Town JFC kick off their season at Kilsby Lane this weekend with the annual Joe Spooner Cup competition. Some 16 teams will battle it out at Under 11 under the format of 9 v 9 with it all kicking off on Sunday at 10am.

The club are please to announce that a record number of teams will be playing out of Kilsby Lane with seven new teams within various age groups forming. The most popular age group is the Under 9 group with seven teams. The club have entered seven leagues Coventry Minor, Leicester Mutual, Leicestershire Girls, MJPL, Birmingham Ladies, Midland Combination U21s with the Youth Team in the Midweek Floodlit League.

The Under 21s have already kicked off their season with two games and win and a loss against Worcester and Romulus and this Saturday they take on Sporting Khalsa at Kilsby Lane with a 10.30am kick-off.

The club have also announced their Volunteer of the Month for August and that is Mark Cross for his voluntary hours in marking all the club pitches out.
