Rugby Town gave their all against league leaders Shaw Lane at Butlin Road on Saturday, but their visitors were just too strong in the end. Valley held them in the first half to go in 0-0 at the break. Shaw Lane then went 2-0 up in the second-half, but David Kolodynski kept the game alive when he headed in a cross from Trey Brathwaite for 2-1.

Rugby are still second from bottom of NPL Division One South on 20 points from 33 games. Loughborough Dynamo above them have 22 points also from 33 games, while bottom of the table Northwich Victoria are just one point behind with two games in hand.

There are just nine games left now for Valley to claw their way out of danger, starting with a trip to 15th-placed Romulus this Saturday and followed by back to back fixtures against promotion-chasing Witton Albion, away and home, on March 18th and 25th.
