There were two penalties for Rugby’s Star Man Kevin Thornton, supported by goals from Jake Healy and substitute Marino Peixoto.

Goole finished the game with nine men, but still made it a tense finish pressing for the equaliser.

Their recent form has seen Rugby climb to fourth from bottom in the NPL South Division, now with 19 points, building on last week’s win over Newcastle. Goole are just four places above them.

Valley will be determined to make it a hat-trick of wins this Saturday when Spalding are the visitors to Butlin Road.
