Rugby Town went out of the FA Trophy in their opening game on Sunday afternoon at St Ives. David Kolodynski had put Valley ahead in the 11th minute, but their hosts equalised 20 minutes later and made it 2-1 before the break.

Two more goals after the interval saw the Southern League side out of sight, before Kevin Thornton netted a consolation for Rugby a minute from time.

Rugby continue their cup ambitions on Tuesday evening (6th) when they are at home to Walsall in the Birmingham Senior Cup.
