Win lifts Valley up to fifth in table

Following the departure of star striker David Kolodynski, Rugby Town put in a good performance to come from behind to beat Leighton Town 2-1.

The visitors scored in the 22nd minute, but Richard Blythe levelled just before the break. Sam Youngs’ penalty in the 65th minute then put them ahead and Rugby hung on to take the points.

They are now fifth in the Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division, with Leighton fourth from bottom.

Tomorrow night (Tuesday) Rugby Town will welcome a West Bromich Albion side to Butlin Road in the Birmingham Senior Cup.
