Disappointment as Valley draw 1-1 at bottom club

Rugby Town could only manage a draw at bottom of the league North Greenford United on Saturday - further denting their play-off hopes.

The home side went ahead in the 16th minute and Richard Gregory levelled nine minutes later, but Town couldn’t find a winner.

In a poor month for results, they have recorded just one win in March, with two draws and two defeats hampering their chances of a play-off place.

Rugby are now sixth in the table with 67 points, but need to be in the top five. It’s still very close though, with Barton Rovers and Bedworth United in fourth and fifth on 69 points, but Bedworth have a game in hand.

Royston in third are on 71 points, second-placed Aylesbury on 73 and Kettering in the top automatic promotion slot with 85.

Rugby will be hoping to turn things around with two home games at Butlin Road over the Easter weekend. On Saturday they host tenth-placed Northwood with leaders Kettering Town the visitors on Monday.
