SOCCER: Trials day in Birmingham

UK Football Trials company are holding a one-day session in Birmingham on Tuesday, February 14 in search of talented footballers who want the chance to get a trial at a professional club.

They are looking for players from Rugby and surrounding towns who think they have what it takes but just don’t know how to make the next step. Coaches and scouts will be watching them play and each participant will be rated on a series of skills tests.

Michael Johnson, former professional and international player with 550 premiership and league games for Birmingham City, Derby, Notts County and Sheffield Wednesday is one of the coaches attending the event. UK Football Trials Head Coach John Dungworth, a UEFA Pro Level Coach, will run the event. John is a former Leeds United Academy coach and has worked with and developed some of the country’s top players, including Paul Robinson, Jonathan Woodgate, Stephen McPhail and Alan Smith.

The trial day is open to any players aged 13 and upwards, lasts for four hours and will consist of a series of football skill tests developed by John Dungworth that will measure both physical attributes and technical football skills including a revolutionary passing training system Soccer Matrix.

To attend the UK Football Trials Birmingham Event, players will need to pre register by visiting the website www.ukfootballtrials.com and booking and paying for the Birmingham Trial.

The event costs £60, which includes all the work involved in contacting professional clubs to secure a trial space. Parents / guardians of trial players are welcome to attend and all under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
