GOLF: Hole in one on par 4

McIntosh takes on Temptation!

Whitefields Golf Club

The Winter League on October 25 saw another hole-in-one at Whitefields, but this time on a par four.

The hole in question was the par four 15th aptly named Temptation, as at only 257 yards it has two ponds to negotiate and a bunker to reach the green. Players either lay up with an iron or take it on with a driver.

The player Peter McIntosh, 'Squash' to the members, had just missed a short putt for a birdie on the 14th to win the hole. According to his opponents he was really wound up, took out his driver and lashed it towards the green.

It carried the first pond hit the bank of the second pond reared up and after two bounces dropped in the hole. After his feat he turned to his opponents and joked "you need that for a half" as they teed up their ball.

Ken Garratt won the Saturday Stableford with 39 points, Neil Todd was second on 37 and Stuart House third with 35.
