Three teams, three wins, it was truly a day of trebles when Rugby’s LMR junior netball club entered the Coventry league end of season tournament – the first time they were represented by under 12, under 13, and under 14 teams.
The first match for the under 12s was never going to be easy, playing Leamington who won the league and who have a very strong squad. The under 12 girls took their time to get into their stride, and soon found themselves playing up to Leamington.
They won matches against Copeswood, Leamington and Ambleside and went on to win their division. A great win for a very new team who ended the season on a terrific high!
Likewise the first match for the under 13 team was a tough one against league winners Leamington too. After a slow start, the team soon got into their stride and it was goal for goal in the last few minutes – the team securing a draw. However, the next few matches saw the girls play some really terrific netball, with superb passing and shooting meaning they won every subsequent match. It was a fantastic win for the strong under 13 team who retained the trophy they won last year.
So no pressure, then, for the under 14 team after the great wins in the morning divisions. A really tough start however saw Goal Attack Ella Ball take a nasty tumble and miss most of the first half of the first match due to a nasty knee injury.
The team lost this match by only one goal, despite being one player down. However, once again the girls played some great netball, showing their true form to win all remaining matches and really stepping up to the challenge.
An amazing achievement to win all three divisions for the club, with all girls having developed over the season into three extremely versatile and talented squads. The club is grateful to all the parents for their support over such a successful season, and special thanks to those who helped score matches for them too.
