Rugby Sports Personality 2013 Kimberley Woods of the Rugby Canoe Club took part in her first double Premier Division races of the 2013 season at the Tryweryn White Water Centre at Bala in North Wales over the weekend of the 9th & 10th March.

The event on day one was also the first in the junior selection series for the GB Junior team to represent Great Britain in the World Championships in Liptovsky in Slovenia and the European Championships in Bourg St Maurice in France.

Kimberley currently ranked 3rd in the Nation senior rankings in both the Canadian and Kayak classes of Canoe slalom was competing in both categories

The slalom site is on the Graveyard section of the river Tryweryn, 5 miles north of Bala. The river is dam released and provides a year round training and competition site dependant on water release from the Llyn Celyn dam. The weather condition remained good on the Saturday turning bitterly cold with a few flakes of snow on the Sunday with no wind making the condition right for an excellent completion.

In the Kayak(K1W) Kimberley made easy work of the technically difficult sections on both of her runs each day completing them in fast times, putting her in 4th place on Saturday and 5th on Sunday, just behind the GB 2012 senior team competitors. Kimberley was the first junior competitor on both days giving her maximum points from the first GB junior selection race

In the Canadian class (C1W) 2012 Junior European Champion Kimberley set a good time on the first run placing her in first place, but on the second run managed to knock 10 seconds off her time consolidating her in first place. On day two Kimberley missed a move on the first run having to go back for a gate putting her down into 5th place but came back some 17 seconds quicker on her second run moving her up the leader board into first place. This result gives her maximum points in the national rankings and from the first Junior GB team selection race. Kimberley is now looking forward to the next GB selection race in Grandtully in Perthshire over the Easter Weekend
