Julie wins Northern Night Championships

Several intrepid club members travelled up to Canklow Woods, near Rotherham, to compete in the Northern Nights Championships organised by South Yorkshire Orienteering Club. With snow already on the ground and 4 centimetres falling during the early evening competition on Saturday Julie Emmerson, competing in her first night event using a head torch, won the W18 class running 4k with 180m of climb in 63.03mins.

Disappointingly two major events scheduled for Sunday: Coombe Country Park, Coventry and an Interland selection race at Chesterfield were cancelled due to the snow.
