2011 Excellence in Sport winners

THERE’s just two weeks left now to enter Rugby’s 2012 Sports Awards.

They will again recognise outstanding achievements and dedication throughout the year - and anyone is welcome to send in a nomination.

Rugby Borough Council are organising the awards for the 18th time, supported by the Rugby Advertiser and Rugby FM.

After the success of the 2011 evening, the presentations will be again be held in the magnificent surroundings of the Temple Speech Room at Rugby School - on Wednesday, February 20.

And you have until Friday, January 11 to submit your entries.

There are nine categories: Lifetime Achievement Award, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, Unsung Hero Volunteer, Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year, The Lion Geoff Thompson Young Volunteer of the Year Award (which includes a cheque for the winner’s club) and the Simon Warwood Memorial Award, for Rugby’s Young Team of the Year.

Also for under 18s nominations for the Excellence in Sport awards are invited for those who have reached national level in their chosen sport.

It includes £100 towards training or equipment.
