First ever defeat in event over 1500m

EUROPEAN MASTERS 10K CHAMPIONSHIP

PORTUGAL, MAY 20th 2016

Rugby & Northampton AC athlete Angela Copson won her 17th European Masters individual medal when she took silver in the W65 10k road race held in Portugal. Copson, not at her best, had to hold off a strong challenge from Great Britain team mate Ros Tabor to record a time of 45 mins 47 secs, with Tabor just five seconds behind.

The champion was Emi Vaquero of Spain with 45-12 who inflicted the first ever defeat on Copson in any British, European or World Championships further than 1500m.

Copson and Tabor also won a silver medal in the team race behind Spain, with Susan James closing out the team in 54-28.
