Ladies present cheque from Ready Steady Run

The Ladies’ Running Group Section of Rugby & Northampton AC presented a cheque for £1,350 Warwickshire Association for the Blind.

The Warwickshire Association for the Blind was the chosen charity to benefit from this year’s Rugby Ready Steady Fun Run, in addition to raising funds for the athletics club which is committed to developing athletes of all ages.

The Warwickshire Association for the Blind (WAB) works with blind and partially sighted people, to provide rehabilitation services and social support.

WAB runs three social clubs in Rugby, as well as a weekly Drop-In Centre, which provides equipment demonstrations, exhibitions, advice and information; and a Home Visitor Service helping visually impaired people to remain independent in their home.

The Ladies Running Group has been an outstanding success story for R&N AC since it first started six years ago, with now over 150 members enjoying group led training sessions for fitness and fun.

Coach Kay Shaw said: “The LRG welcomes ladies of all ages and abilities with both beginner and intermediate groups training every Saturday and meeting informally during the week.

“Some run to achieve milestones in runnings, others just to keep feet and socialise with like minded people.”
