Angela Copson set a new British record in the Silverstone 10k road race when she led home Rugby & Northampton AC in the first race of the East Midlands Grand Prix Series.
The 64-year-old knocked 13 secs off Daphne Ellmore’s W60 mark set last year to record a time of 38 mins 57 secs.
The race once again included two laps of the famous motor racing circuit and Copson finished in 11th place in the Ladies race and in doing so edged out the first male from R&N by 2 seconds.
Backing her up in this age group was last year’s overall winner Barbara Parkinson who recorded 50.03 for second place.
Rachel Shaw was the second lady home for the club in 31st spot with a time of 42.50 and Veteran Jo Love finished in 45.25 to clinch 43rd position.
Jayne Partridge supported Copson, Love and Parkinson in the Veteran team, which finished in 4th place, when she came home in 53.16.
The first man across the line for R&N was veteran Aaron Lincoln with a time of 38.59 in 101st place overall and was followed by four other veterans with John Sawford (226th in 42.44), Brian Malin (351st in 45.25) and Neil Martin (388th in 46.15).
The quartet finished as the 9th Veteran team.
