ATHLETICS: Success for Princethorpe College

Princethorpe College athletes clinched top positions in the recent Warwickshire Combined Events Championships.

With 32 schools competing at the Pingles stadium, Nuneaton on May 3, Princethorpe Junior Girls, Junior Boys and Inter Boys teams stole the show with convincing victories in each age group.

The Juniors took part in a gruelling day’s competition in the high jump, long jump, shot put, 75 metre hurdles and the 800 metres.Princethorpe’s Adam Shaw and Annabelle Pask were the top performing individual athletes of the day with team mates Flora Courtney 9th, Ella Bromley 10th , Ben Oliver 5th and Alex Eldridge 33rd. With 45 competitors in each age group the competition was fierce. Princethorpe’s Inter Boys, who undertook seven events, saw Luke Bromley in 3rd, Paddy Mills 5th and Harry Hughes 29th.

Princethorpe College PE teacher Debs Brookes described the teams’ performances,

“Despite dodging the rain the spirit and determination of our athletes throughout the day were phenomenal. To win three out of the six team events says it all. We are very proud of their achievements and are looking forward to a successful track season.”
